Il Cafone, located in Lyndhurst, NJ, was founded in 1997 by Chef Roberto Oliveira, who set out to share his love of authentic Italian cooking and make every guest feel at home.
When Trattoria Il Cafone first opened, lines stretched around the block as guests waited to enjoy a meal. What began as a small, one-room trattoria has since grown into a welcoming two-room restaurant and a beloved neighborhood destination. Through the years, Roberto, his family, and their dedicated staff have kept the same passion for authentic Italian food, warm hospitality, and making every guest feel like family.

Today, Il Cafone has two welcoming dining sections with room for intimate dinners, family reunions, birthdays, company gatherings, and special celebrations. Our party room accommodates up to 100 guests, with space for up to 150 guests across both dining rooms.
Many members of our team have been with us since the early years. That continuity is part of what makes the restaurant feel familiar: guests return, families grow, and favorite dishes remain waiting for them.
